Job Description:
- The Elementary Teacher is responsible for creating and delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. The teacher fosters academic growth, social-emotional learning, and positive behavior in their students, collaborating with colleagues and families to support student success.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Completion of a Michigan-approved teacher preparation program with an endorsement appropriate to elementary education
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in Elementary Education
- Passage of required Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) content exam(s) for elementary endorsement
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, fingerprinting, and other state/district clearance procedures
Performance Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver daily lessons in all core subjects aligned to the Michigan K–5 standards or district curriculum.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including those with IEPs, 504 plans, English learners, and gifted learners
- Assess student learning regularly (formative and summative assessments), analyze data, and adjust instruction accordingly
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, grades, and other documentation in compliance with district policies
- Establish and maintain a positive classroom climate, with clear expectations, routines, and procedures
- Integrate technology, hands-on activities, and project-based learning as appropriate
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, specialists, and other staff
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences, communicate with families, and respond to parent inquiries in a timely manner
- Attend staff meetings, professional development, and other district-required events
- Uphold district and state curricular, behavioral, and safety policies
- Maintain professional growth through continuing education, reflection, and collaboration
